Lowering the car’s centre of gravity — by approximately 30mm at the front and up to 25mm at the rear — makes a real difference to the way it drives. Body roll is noticeably reduced, turn-in feels sharper, and overall dynamics are greatly improved, all while retaining the comfort and refinement you’d expect from a BMW.

Thanks to carefully chosen progressive spring rates, low-speed ride quality remains smooth — in fact, it actually feels more composed around town. But push on, and the F31’s chassis really comes alive: it feels lighter on its feet, more direct, and properly responsive through the corners. Just what the 3-Series Touring needed.

Visually, the difference is just as striking. The lower ride height gives the car a more aggressive, purposeful stance without being over-the-top.

Go any lower or firmer than these, and you risk upsetting the balance — with mismatched damping and limited spring travel leading to a crashy, unsettled ride. That’s why MMX Springs are engineered specifically to work in harmony with both static and Adaptive M dampers.
